Birth is a miracle I have been captivated by for many years, and it is from that passion that I desire to empower parents as they move into a new stage of life. I believe that support and information are the two most important things in the event of becoming parents. When parents receive those two things at such an important time in their lives, a beautiful confidence develops. There are so many decisions to be made before your baby arrives: the birth location, who your care provider will be, discovering your philosophy and feelings about giving birth and being parents. Most parents have many questions and concerns and feel more empowered and relaxed when they can gain information about the process and the many options available beforehand.
Giving birth truly changes your life, and it is a great honour for me to be present at such a powerful and significant time. As the mother of three, I understand the many emotions and questions surrounding pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. And as a doula, I am committed to bringing support to all aspects of your unique experience. I work to inform you and provide emotional and physical support in whatever setting or options you choose for your birth and beyond. I take the time to answer your individual questions during the prenatal phase and help you decide what questions you want to ask your care provider about their preferences and what questions to raise about the policies of your chosen birth location. I am a familiar face that stays by your side for the entire labour, who is there specifically to support your needs and facilitate a positive birth experience by providing encouragement during a time of uncertainty.
It is my desire to serve women and their families during this crucial time, and it has been a privilege to have provided personalized support to a number of women. I have been professionally trained through DONA International, a non-profit organization with a passion for families. In addition, I have been educated in basic NRP (neonatal resuscitation), and have completed a Second Attendant course. Over the past 8 years, I have assisted women and their families as a doula through a variety of birthing situations, from cesarean birth, to epidural births, to births with no pain medications, waterbirth and homebirths. I am excited to be a part of the birthing community in Edmonton and the surrounding area, as there are many diverse options for your birth. I would be honoured to help you discover which choices may be best for you and I look forward to chatting with you about how we can work together!
